New Twitter accounts

Posted By roger on June 15, 2009

This weekend John and I decided to create two new twitter accounts based on Green Country Scooter Club. The intent is to use twitter for late breaking announcements and to keep everyone informed of changes in ride events and such.

John’s account is GCSC_JRW and mine is GCSC_RGT. If you don’t already have a twitter account, signing up is free and adding your mobile device allows for instant updates.

We should be riding this Thursday evening from Tulsa Scooters. Still finalizing the ride plan, and watching the weather. Looks promising so far.

Until then, see you on Twitter and …

New Gallery Section

Posted By roger on June 9, 2009

I’ve created a new page for the galleries. At the same time I’ve added the images I shot over the rally weekend. If anyone else would like to add their images, let me know and we’ll figure out how to get them to our server.

Tulsa Scooter Rally

Posted By roger on June 7, 2009

This years rally has come and gone and what a success! Everyone I talked to had a great time. New friendships were started and old friendships strengthened.

Friday night’s meet and greet and the Crystal Pistol was a blast. While I couldn’t stick around as late as everyone else, I heard “Science Project” was extremely good and kept everyone entertained. Thanks again to Mark for opening the Pistol to us.

This year something new was added to the rally. The first annual poker run was met with enthusiasm. Riders broke up into groups of 2 to 4 riders and rode to various local merchants to pick cards for their winning hands. The cool thing was all of the locations are locally own establishments that sell locally crafted merchandise or provide services to local merchants. A couple of the locations I have been aware of for sometime, but did not see any reason to visit them until this weekend. After going in and looking around, I know I’ll go back. Ida Red’s has some great merchandise and a huge selection of Pop’s soft drinks. They even have Coke in bottles! Something I personally haven’t had in 15 yrs. Nothing beats an ice cold Coke from a glass bottle! It just tastes better!

Following the poker run we had a short break and off to the neighboring parking lot for the scooter gymkata! I have to say it wasn’t as big as last years, but it was more challenging! There is much to be grateful for if you ride a scoot with a CVT. It’s tough trying to drop sponges in a bucket if you have to use one hand to throttle and the other to clutch! All in all, the gymkata was a great time and for those of you who missed it, missed out.

Dinner at Jo Mama’s was wonderful. The pizza there is top notch. From there it was back to the Pistol for a viewing of the “The Grapes of Wrath” followed by U-Tube videos that had everyone howling with laughter.

Sunday mornings ride took us north on Cincinnati to Sperry at a nice leisurely pace and from Sperry cutting west to 52ND and back into Tulsa. Everyone who I spoke to enjoyed the ride saying it was the best rally ride they’ve ever been on. As the ride leader, it made me feel good that everyone enjoyed the ride. I know now how the leader of Hell’s Angels must feels as his posse rolls through town!

The rally ended on a fun note as the awards were given out and the raffle tickets drawn. Lots of great prizes were raffled off including a great looking little scooter!

I would like to thank Sacha, Jonathan, Robn andJohn for all of their hard work in putting this years rally together. Also my thanks go out to those who helped out behind the scenes. The ones we don’t see. You all know who you are. Thank you.

Now to start planning next years rally! Let’s see if we can make it better than this years. What a tough challenge!

Until next time, ride safe

Eskimo Joe’s Ride – May 24th

Posted By roger on May 22, 2009

Just wanted to touch base with everyone. The forecast for this weekend is calling for 40 – 60 percent chance of rain. We thought to meet at Tulsa Scooters around 11:00 on Sunday, but with the chances of showers, I’m going to suggest we meet at the Braum’s at 15th and Lewis just beside the Reasor’s.

I figure I’ll be there around 10:30. Mind you if it’s raining at 10, I’m canceling the ride and we’ll plan it for next month. Maybe it will be a bit dryer!

Ride safe and see you Sunday

The route is attached as a PDF file.

Rally Planning Session

Posted By fotogrfr on May 13, 2009

We met at Leon’s in Brookside to discuss the upcoming rally. There were around 12 scooter enthusiasts there and we were able to discuss and plan a number of activities for the rally. It’s going to be a great time! We’re all looking forward to the rally and hope everyone else is too!

Ren Fair Ride

I’m guessing the prospect of rain kept everyone close to home yesterday. I know I wasn’t looking forward to a drenching either.

We’ll try it again for next Sunday the 17th. Of course, considering what I’ve been seeing forcasted the next few day, I’m going to make this on “depending on the weather”

I did get to take advantage of Tulsa Scooter hospitality and got to test ride a couple of new Kymco’s they just got in. I’ll to a test ride report later this week.

Until later, Ride Safe

Plans are still in place for the Eskimo Joe’s ride to Stillwater for lunch. We’re working on getting the ride details worked out, but the plan at this point it to meet at Tulsa Scooters at 10:30 which should put us in Stillwater around 1:00ish. Have lunch, ride around town and then head back to Tulsa.

Keep an eye on the new event calendar for more rides!

Ride safe,

Looks like the weather will hold out until later this afternoon but it’s going to be a chilly day. If you’re planning on joining the ride, bundle up. We’ll be riding for about 90 minutes both ways.

I’ll be at Tulsa Scooters by 10:30.

See you there!
